Traffic report
Notification from Gloucestershire County Council
What: Temporary EMERGENCY Traffic Order to close the road for essential Ash Dieback tree work.
Where: A436 – Ullenwood to Seven Springs/ Jct with A435 (see overleaf for details of the exact location)
When: 29 July -2nd August 2024 inclusive (excluding weekends) from 09.30 to 15.30 daily.
On behalf of Gloucestershire County Council, we are advising you that, as part of a countywide program, we are due to carry out essential works at the above location to remove trees infected with Ash Dieback.
Due to the tragic circumstances that unfolded in the early hours of Sunday morning the works that were due to be carried out this week were postponed, whilst police investigations were conducted.
From 5th August 2024, National Highways will be closing Leckhampton Hill for 10 weeks as part of the A417 Missing Link scheme. As a result of these planned works, the A436 will see higher than average use. Therefore, the decision has been taken to instruct an emergency closure for next week, 29 July -2nd August 2024 inclusive, so we can complete the necessary tree works prior to the increased usage of the road, as had been originally planned.
For the duration of our works, between the dates and times stated, the A436 will be a NO THROUGH ROAD between Seven Springs and A417 junction at The Air Balloon roundabout. However, to ensure your premises remain accessible throughout, we will only have a hard closure in place for the stretch of road we are working on. Our first closure points will be from Seven Springs to the Ullenwood Manor crossroads. Once works are completed on this stretch, our closure points will change to the Ullenwood Manor crossroads to the A417 junction at The Air Balloon. We will write to you again once we know when the closures points will change.
An official diversion will be in place and is illustrated within the letter attached to this email.
We understand that road closures are inconvenient and apologise that in this instance more advanced warning has not been possible.
We very much thank you for your understanding in this matter.
