Walking Group
Shipton Walking Group
The group usually walks on a Friday morning and often stops for lunch afterwards at a local inn of hostelry. The walks are usually between 5 - 7 miles long, take 2 - 2 1/2 hours to complete, and cover a variety of different terrains.
We have been walking together for over 2 1/2 years now and the group has more than 50 active members. We have completed of over 130 walks, most of which are different from eachother and collectively cover a large area of the North Cotswolds.
The primary aim of the group is to encourage active participation and to improve physical and mental wellbeing, although it is not aimed to be a highly athletic or competitive work-out. Importantly, it is a community building event and as such has resulted in the organisation of many social events, well beyond walking.
We are happy to take on new participants of all ages and backgrounds, and do not limit our membership soley to Shipton. Indeed, we now have participants from Andoversford, Brockhampton, Charlton Kings, Cheltenham, Evesham, Hampen, Sevenhampton, Withington and Yanworth..
